FAQ's: Fact or Myth?
On this section of the website I am going to present some frequently asked questions about abortion along with sources that claim that they are true or false.
1.) Does abortion cause a higher risk of breast cancer?
I have read many conflicting articles about this question. The National Abortion Frederation addresses the studies done in the past and states that they are flawed. Their website states that all women have an increased chance of developing breast cancer with age and therefore, that risk is not related to abortion.

Yet the Coalition on Aboriton/Breast Cancer states that when a woman becomes pregnant she produces high levels of estrogen (known as a carcinogen) causing breast lobules (a part of the breast that is susceptible to breast cancer) to mulitipy. If a women gets an abortion and does not have a full-term pregnancy the pregnancy hormones that make the breast lobules mature and become cancer resistant will never have a chance to set in.

2.) Does having an abortion cause infertility?
This is also a question that has contradicting responses from the pro-life and pro-choice communities. As one of the websites listed below states, many pro-choice supporters believe that it does not cause infertility and many pro-life supporters believe that it does. This area, like many is subject to bias oppinions. However, the second site listed states that abortion probably does not increase your chances of infertility but it is possible.

3.) What is post abortion syndrome?
Post Abortion Sydrome is an alleged form of post traumatic stress disorder said to be caused by having an abortion. There are a myriad of symptoms enclosed in post abortion syndrome such as guilt, anxiety and thoughts of suicide. Ramah International, a ministry devoted to help women recover from the emotional side effects of having an abortion, claims that the symptoms and severity of post abortion syndrome vary from woman to woman and may come very soon after having an abortion or years later.

However, again the National Abortion Federation disclaims this "myth" and states that there, in fact, is no such thing as post abortion syndrome. Although, their website states that the results and research of post abortion syndrom studies are "confusing". Are they trying to cover up that post abortion sydrome is, indeed, a plausible side effect of having an abortion?

4.) Does life really begin at conception?
There are many different speculations of when the life of a human begins. Many pro-choicers believe that life begins after the baby has reached the point where it is able to survive outside the womb whith serioius medical intervention or the point of viability (usually around 20-24 weeks). Some may believe that live begins after the quickening (the first movements of a fetus).
The pro-life counter argument for this is that life undoubtedly begins at conception when the twenty-three chromosomes of the mother and the twenty-three chomosomes of father meet and form the fist cell of the baby. at this moment gender and genetic make up have already been determined. That is a human being that would not exist otherwise, therefore, it is then a human.
