On January 22, 1973 abortion became legal in the United States of America. Abortion had been illegal in the U.S. and women who wanted to have abortions were forced to obtain them in "back-alley" clinics resulting in harmful effects or even death. Young Norma McCorvey (known as Jane Roe) claimed that this was unconstitutonal. Why should it be illegal for a woman to end her pregnancy if it is her body and her baby? Here, the Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade, was born.
Since 1973, the United States has been divided on the issue of abortion. With the liberal argument agreeing with that of Norma McCorvey and the conservative arguement that the unborn child is alive and deserves the right to live. Both sides have some valid points that are worth examining.

Abortion is a very controversial topic and one that I care very much about. I understand that making a decision to be pro-life or pro-choice can be extremely difficult. Many of the points raised by both sides often contradict each other, making you wonder who is right and who is wrong. My goal is to present you with information and facts on this website and to provide you with other resources with pro-life and pro-choice viewpoints. After analyzing this information decide for yourself which you believe more closely aligns with your personal views. After you have made your decision, I encourage you to take a stand for the view that you believe in, by the way you vote and by being vocal in your community.
